Sara has focused for 25+ years on encouraging generosity to build a more just world. From the non-profit trenches, to executive leadership and board service, Sara has worked for organizations small and large. Sara has led all aspects of fundraising, including annual funds, capital campaigns, major gifts, grants, events, communications, media, and engaging volunteers, congregations, and boards.

Before joining GSB in 2023, she developed award-winning affordable housing in Montana and catalyzed Chicago non-profits to expand and diversify their communities of support.

Most recently, she served as Director of Development at a nationally regarded nonprofit with 100+ employees and $7.6M annual budget. During her decade there, she quadrupled private support from $750K to over $3M annually; completed a $6.1M capital campaign well in excess of the goal; quadrupled annual grants; and created a stewardship program for mid-level and major donors resulting in higher retention and increased support.

With Masters degrees from North Park Theological Seminary, an undergraduate degree from Connecticut College, and a wealth of experience across diverse nonprofits, Sara will bring thoughtfulness, creativity, and encouragement to help you meet and exceed your goals.

Sara is a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church of Logan Square in Chicago. She is a co-founder of Sol House Cooperative in Chicago where she lives with her spouse Yali. Sara loves cooking, swing dancing, hiking in New Mexico, volunteering at the circus, and gathering people for stronger, vibrant community.
